No, I believe that black holes can exist, though I need to research the subject more to get a better understanding of why and where. My main goal is to convince you to back up your claims on this page with credible proof to see if they have any merit. (basically to see if you can do what you believe Mrs. DuBois cannot do).

If you are unfamiliar with the phenomenon of the black hole, I would suggest the following:imagine(dot)gsfc(dot)nasa(dot)gov/docs/science/know_l2/black_holes(dot)htmlThis brief explanation even includes some formulas. Otherwise, the massive quantity of scientific information available on the internet, in libraries, and even visual media regarding the subject is yours to find. You seem to suggest that you do not believe in this phenomenon; is that the case?

If possible, try to make a distinction between opinion and scientific fact.

Well, you provided a concrete source here to back up your claim. If you would only do that to all of your other claims (i.e. that "the greatness of mankind is measured by our ability to understand our universe through logic, reason, and the scientific method"), then your stance would be more persuasive.

"Their existence and nature is predicted and confirmed through mathematics and the physical sciences; tested, verifiable, peer reviewed experimentation and exploration."Give some examples of this experimentation and exploration so that we'll have more to go by than just your word.

Many including me would be more than happy to test Dubois; the problem is that she refuses all scientific testing. She wants nothing to do with any credible effort to test her powers because she has none. To demonstrate how simple it is to test psychics, watch the series called "Extraordinary People: The Million Dollar Mind Reader". In it, alleged psychic Derek Ogilvie is tested and fails; it's quite amusing actually.

You're really out there aren't you? Black holes are an observable phenomenon; and some of their characteristics are known through observation. Furthermore, their existence and nature is predicted and confirmed through mathematics and the physical sciences; tested, verifiable, peer reviewed experimentation and exploration. It is not a matter of "blind faith"; it is a matter of fact. Believing in dubois, however, is blind faith and nothing more.
livgrnfan (October 8, 2008 at 11:09 pm)
"Testing psychics such as dubois is simple and takes very little time/expense."Then why don't you perform these tests and publish the results in a convincing and credible article that exposes Mrs. Dubois for the "fraud" that she is? These resutls would likely assert the validity of your claims better than any argument on a YouTube page could.

How can agg188 accept the logic in a black hole consuming matter and light or the logic in measuring man's greatness by his/her ability to understand the universe without understanding why either assertion is logical? Should she just accept that both are logical without this understanding? That would be no better than the "blind faith" towards people like Mrs. Dubois that you are criticizing here, and you can't have it both ways.
