Wonderful film. Just watched it for the first time tonight, even though it is set close to my home and I've heard about it for 20 years. And the reviewer is absolutely right: the film shows beautifully how physical and spiritual nourishment and love can be but variations of the same aspirations of humans.

this is an amazing film! the review, and choice scenes, did a great job at articulating the feeling of this movie.

"Eat, Drink, Man, Woman" is a great movie about food, also. I've never seen "Babette's Feast", I'm going to watch it tonight.
