The song is "Solfeggio" by Robert Maxwell, and I have seen it listed as being performed by the Ray Charles Singers or Trio, I'm not quite sure, but look it up under his music credits and albums. It's called that because they are singing in the solfège syllables the Do Re Mi, etc. I'd really like to see or hear Hot Cakes and Sausage or Saxophobia. Sad how today they have better technology but still can't top this.

Isn't this tune "Tse-tse Fly"? Remember: Kovacs freaked the HELL out of the square television audiences of the 1950s--and that's exactly what he was trying to do. He was brilliant.

rather terrifying.

Lemmon would sit in occasionally, but Kovacs would always be in the center.

Ernie Kovacs was brilliant and is so very underrated.I love the "slow burn" that occurs when the center ape (Kovacs) who is conducting with a banana, keeps getting assaulted by the ape with the mallets. The surreal nature of the piece is also inspired, the apes act mechanical in nature which just heightens the absurdity and makes it all the more funny!Check out his Kitchen symphony with Esquivels music! |
