Poor Butterfly - Bunk Johnson & Don Ewell
This is another of the 'trios' recorded in New York in April 1946 with Don Ewell; pno. and Alphonso Steele; dms. after Bunk had been re-discovered working at Conrad's Rice Mill, New Iberia, La.These tracks, and those of similar date featuring him with his re-formed band, proved to be the inspiration for the N.O. Revival that took both sides of "the pond" by storm in the following two decades.(You can see why Don Ewell was chosen, can't you?)
