I agree: I like to watch Derren Brown but I never "fall" into his clues and, being a linguist, I always suspected it's because I speak English as a foreign language, so even though I understand everything, I understand it at a different level, it's a more rational process and probably it implies an extra layer. The hot dog guy is a foreigner, which I think is why it didn't work. (I've been thinking about the ramifications of translating these tricks into other languages. I have no life!)

Take the first example. Whilst paying, he talks about being anxious about getting the subway, and then quotes his friend by saying "Take it, it's fine" just as he hands over the money! I explain this technique in a video and show you how to do it yourself. Click on my username to see.

he never claims its hypnosis, in fact he strongly denys the existance of all hocus pocus, mindreading and magic lol this is just suggestion, thats all, its essentially the same principle as a clever form of subliminal advertising. watch more of his vids, he always provides a scientific explaination.

notice the shirt's stamps, it resembles money stamps. And the subway question and the finger pointing thing, it's all about reassurance, to make the salesman be certain about something. Derren uses lots of these stuffs togheter, I only could see a few by now. But still, is amazing :)

I would recommend you all to go find some information.He is an artist. What he does in the videos are most probably not real. There is no scientific proof what-so-ever that hypnosis works like it is put forth in his videos.But don't believe what I say - go check it up for yourselves, using reliable resources!
