It's not so simple; its a matter of ideology. Apple follows Steve Jobs' vision which has always fundamentally favored tight hardware/software integration. Gates has always led MS the opposite way towards a loose coupling & platform independence. If you've never seen their joint interview from last year please do because this was the central theme. Gates' philosophy has worked better for PCs but Jobs' has worked better for integrated devices like Ipod & Iphone.

u r very right. I would do anything to meet Jobbs just to tell him he doomed his company, I would do alot to talk to Woz just to have a conversation and talk to him about hardware and software and other stuff like that.

y do we have to argue about this? all the coments below r just useless oppinions. the fact of the matter is that SHadowFOX4u was better than all of u because he stated mainly the facts. apple didn't make their OS run on other machines which is y microsoft dominated after win 95. ppl also liked their OS better. nnothing more now I am tired of ppl arguing about whos OPPINION is right. in the end it will go nowhere because oppionions rnt rite or wrong!

Only way Apple will ever have a chance is to release there OS to other manufacturers or to the general public to simply purchase and install on any machine. Apple NEEDS to go software only if they want a chance. There hardware is simply just terribly overpriced.
