Daniel-no! Domingo never ever sung La Boheme in key. He's been transposing it as early as 1967 (maybe even earlier). And it's not only La Boheme. Domingo is a career transposer of 'whole" operatic roles since his early years. Anything above and A was a trial and error exercise for Domingo to begin with. When he didn't crack (which was very often), he was flat. His upper register was never robust which is due to a flawed technique -the very reason why he sounds pushed.

Wansob-Do you want a banana as you have been posting publicity statements like a monkey in an effort to legitimize Domingo's limited ability. In case you missed, Domingo never sung La Boheme in key!

Wansob-Do you fancy a banana? You're quoting publicity statements for the sole purpose of commercial success as proof of Domingo's good operatuc artistry like a MONKEY! Do you have an opinion yourself on which you can elaborate and substantiate in operatic terms? Note that MINGO has been transposing La Boheme since 1967. He never sung it in key.

Superb "La Boheme" Will Become Opera Colorado LegendGlenn Giffin, Denver Post, April 6, 1983Rodolfo's "Che gelida manina" (How cold your small hand) displays the elements of Placido Domingo's tenor which makes him one of the highest paid and most in demand singers. This is a big voice with something of a baritone's dark quality. In a lean frame, with dark hair and warm eyes, he is a romantic figure.

Sensational Debut in La BohčmeHeuwell Tircuit, San Francisco Chronicle, 17th November 1969Still, it was Domingo's performance which made the evening so memorable. It was his debut, his opera, his night. One hopes he will return often, and the sooner the better. |
