Absolutely love your comment. I have read Devdas (I'm a Bengali) and Chandramukhi is the actual female protagonist in the original as well as all the versions of Devdas. It is unfortunate how SLB has failed to tap the true essence of Devdas. His Devdas though visually appealing but lacks soul. Madhuri's role I thought was a pure injustice to her talent but in such a limited screenspace she made such a tremendous impact.
