@fiveoscar Again you are not completely correct -the ZX81 could be bought in kit form or complete -the latter costing understandably more. The ZX81 did not have a screen but you could linke it upto a ordinary TV set screen making it mass useable and cheap for the masses many who were not able to afford later competition from the Commadore and BBC Acorn which got the contract to supply British schools. Sinclair hit back with the colour "Spectrum" computer which sold widely in Britain and EU

@fiveoscar The Sinclair scientific calculator of 1972 was the World's first TRUELY pocket calculator and was battery powered -the Japanese Busicom was neither.
fiveoscar
@Fartsurmonde The first mass produced portable computer was actually the IBM 5100 the first commercially available portable computer. And it had a screen. As for the first electronic calculator. That was the Japanese Busicom.

@Fartsurmonde Then that would be the detail. It's not the first computer nor the first electrical computer. It's the first electrical computer that could be programed. And I'm going to have to correct you. The ZX81 was not a first and was not even mass produced. It was sold in kit form, mail only, that required soldering and didn't even have a display screen. You had to pay extra for it to get mailed to you already assembled. You needed to connect it to a TV.

@Mgangsta900 sorry it is the truth
Fartsurmonde
@fiveoscar correct, but then again the Colosus was the first electrical computer the same as modern day computers in being programmable -also Sir Clive Sinclair (also a Brit) later invented the worlds' truely mass production home"pocket" computer (zx81) and first pocket electric (battery) calculator.

@cannabahashed Actually. You did ask. Not me specifically but since nobody else answered you, I took the liberty. And now you got your answer and should be better informed about the subject now.
