Ann, this elderly lady i look after, grew up w/ Henry Mancini, she recalls his mother yelling at across the street to come home and practice his piano, all the neighborhood kids made fun of him because he played the flute. She said he used to hate missing out on stuff because is mother forced him to play hours a day, later on she said he found a passion in music probably after moving out. This shows the geek you make fun of who's the mama's boy may some day become a award winning legend.

Pure classic. And some fantastic comping by the great John Williams on piano (or Johnny, as he was known back then), a future scoring great studying at the feet of the master.

So...let me think....this Mancini kid grows up to attend Julliard, enters the military and joins the band. After that, he starts to makes music for tv and movies...internationally known and respected....has a very long career mixing genres....capturing different moods for different films and particular scenes....not too shabby for a flute playing kid from the 'heartland'. We miss you Hank!!!!! One of a kind!

Great music! Reminds me along time ago, watching Peter Gunn series. Both were excellent.

Henry Mancini is a talented genius with all of his music and wonderful arrangements. As Audrey Hepburn said He is the coolest of Cats.

I love Mancini's version of this tune. It's smooth, cool, elegant and beautiful. I also adore Sarah Vaughan's version of "Dreamsville" with her tremendous vocal talent.
